Hi, Ardith Hinton!       I read your message from 06.09.2015 15:42       about Animal gender.               AH> your case. What's missing is the cultural aspect, the opportunity        AH> to observe from processing multiple examples that folks speak        AH> differently depending on how they feel about a particular        AH> animal.... :-)              Yes. In Russia a black panther is always "she"; more of that - the Russian       language has not a single word targeting a male panther, at all. So, if you       translate into English a Russian story with a panther you will not know the       real gender of the panther. Although, everywhere in the story, the panther       that is "she" in Russia will be probably "he" in English. ;)              Bye, Ardith!       Alexander Koryagin       ENGLISH_TUTOR 2015              --- Paul's Win98SE VirtualBox        * Origin: Quinn's Post - Maryborough, Queensland, OZ (3:640/384)    |
