   in this case, it is a type or category of something...   
      
   when you have chicken for dinner, do you same that your family members eat   
   chickens or do you say that your family members eat chicken? if only one   
   chicken was cooked? if you have a large family and two chickens were cooked?   
      
   in this particular situation, we're talking about types of meat so the   
   singular of each if more than one is listed is proper... the context is the   
   important identifier of which to use...
