Of course this was more than 10 years after Shepard became the       2nd person in space.              Alan Shepard, who in 1961 became the first American, to travel into space       aboard a Mercury space capsule. He didn't achieve orbit, which was the       goal of the Mercury project. I guess you could say that he was the       'oldest' person to achieve orbit, about 10 years later in Appolo 14.               RW>> PS - The first man in space was Joseph Kittinger - in a balloon        RW>> (USA) 8^)               PQ> By those standards,              You're not familiar with the facts? Joe Kittinger was the guiding hand       that helped the more recent person take a dive in man-no-air-ship space,       called a high dive. He is also on record for the first man in space from a       balloon. Facts over fiction which can be proven.               PQ> it was in fact a Chinese alchemist on a rocket-powered throne in the        PQ> early 1000s AD.              Got a Google link to that info? Didn't think so.               PQ> Though this was later unproven by the Mythbusters team.              Ahhh, those guys ... a lot of what they do can be debunked and often is.       Although what their show is about is a lot of fun to watch when they make       such fools out of themselves. Especially the bald headed, handle barred       monkey 'screwing' a football character.                      R\%/itt                     --- GoldED+/W32 1.1.5-31012       --- D'Bridge 3.92        * Origin: Lone-Star BBS - San Antonio, Texas - USA (1:387/22)    |
