Yesterday a fellow Christian and Facebook friend pointed my attention to a   
   commercial that is currently being widely broadcast in the United States by   
   the so-called "Church of Scientology". I have one word for my readers:   
   BEWARE!   
      
   While they claim to be a religion, and in fact have been legally recognized   
   as a religion in a number of countries -- including in the USA -- in my   
   view, they are no such thing.   
      
   Even a cursory examination of Scientology will reveal that it is nothing   
   more than a dangerous, money-making cult which caters to the rich and the   
   elite. In fact, according to information I have read, it costs literally   
   thousands of dollars to go through their various levels and courses; and the   
   higher one advances, the more expensive the levels become to complete.   
      
   Scientologists engage in a practice called "auditing", which, according to   
   what I have read, is a dangerous form of "control hypnosis". In other words,   
   the Scientologist who is "auditing" another individual, controls the   
   subject. This is very dangerous and should be avoided!   
      
   Scientologists also believe in reincarnation, and hold the view that we have   
   lived on other planets. As many Christians will already know, reincarnation   
   is totally contrary to the teachings of the Scriptures. For example, in the   
   Epistle to the Hebrews we are told the following:   
      
   "And as it is appointed unto men ONCE to die, but after this the judgment:"   
   Hebrews 9:27, KJV   
      
   There are no past lives. We get one chance, and one chance only.   
      
   One of the secret doctrines of Scientology involves an alleged   
   extraterrestrial being named Xenu. In typical Star Wars or Star Trek   
   fashion, supposedly, Xenu was the dictator of the so-called "Galactic   
   Confederacy". It is claimed by Scientologists that some seventy-five million   
   years ago, this evil entity brought billions of his people to the Earth in a   
   DC-8-like spacecraft, arranged them around active volcanoes, and then killed   
   them using hydrogen bombs. Furthermore, Scientologists believe that the   
   essences of these murdered people remain to this day, and that they form   
   around people and cause them spiritual harm. To me, it sounds a lot like   
   demonic oppression.   
      
   The commercial in question -- there are others which have been made by   
   Scientology as well -- is dangerously deceptive. When it states that "Man   
   can save his soul", it does not mean that we can save our souls through our   
   faith in the Atoning Sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The truth of the matter is   
   that Scientology has absolutely nothing to do with Jesus Christ, or His   
   Atoning Sacrifice, or any other aspect of Bible-based Christianity. In other   
   words, Scientologists believe that we are all immortal beings who have   
   simply forgotten that we are immortal, and that we can save ourselves   
   through their dangerous hypnotic ritual of "auditing".   
      
   The line "This is an invitation to freedom" is an absolute lie. Rather than   
   spiritual freedom, people who become involved in Scientology are in fact   
   entrapped in it through the control hypnosis referred to as "auditing". Not   
   only that, but financially-speaking, they likewise become in bondage to   
   Scientology as well, due the increasing amount of money that they must pay   
   -- in the thousands of dollars -- in order to continue with the various   
   levels and courses. In contrast, consider what Jesus Christ told His   
   followers when He sent them out to preach the Kingdom of God to the masses:   
      
   "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely   
   ye have received, freely give."   
   Matthew 10:8, KJV   
      
   Concerning true freedom and the truth, Jesus Christ said the following in   
   the Gospel of John:   
      
   ". . . I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father,   
   but by me."   
   John 14:6b, KJV   
      
   ". . . If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye   
   shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free . . . If the Son   
   therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."   
   John 8:31b-32, 36, KJV   
      
   So, as you can see, true spiritual freedom is knowing Jesus Christ, and   
   accepting His loving Sacrifice as the only valid means of Atonement for our   
   sins.   
      
   Perhaps the most devilishly subtle line in the whole commercial is the   
   following one. In describing the so-called "freedom" which Scientology   
   supposedly offers, the commercial says:   
      
   "It does not come with the blares of trumpets or the flare and flash of   
   flame"   
      
   Exactly what does this mysterious phrase mean? While I am not absolutely   
   certain, it does seem to be in contradiction to the Scriptures, which indeed   
   associate both trumpets and flames of fire with Christ's Return, at whose   
   Coming we shall indeed be set free from the mortal shackles of the flesh.   
   Consider these verses, for example:   
      
   "And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they   
   shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven   
   to the other."   
   Matthew 24:31, KJV   
      
   "Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be   
   changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the   
   trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we   
   shall be changed."   
   1 Corinthians 15:51-52, KJV   
      
   "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice   
   of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall   
   rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together   
   with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever   
   be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words."   
   1 Thessalonians 4:16-18, KJV   
      
   "But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to   
   sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his   
   servants the prophets."   
   Revelation 10:7, KJV   
      
   "And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be   
   revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking   
   vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our   
   Lord Jesus Christ:"   
   2 Thessalonians 1:7-8, KJV   
      
   So just remember. When the Scientology commercial states that "You have been   
   invited", please recognize that it is actually an invitation to deep   
   deception and financial bondage, and to nothing more. As I have often shared   
   with my readers, the Apostle Paul wrote:   
      
   "But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being   
   deceived."   
   2 Timothy 3:13, KJV   
      
   The commercial ends with the phrase "Know yourself, know life". In contrast,   
   our Christian faith is not just about looking inward and realizing our   
   sinful condition, and our need for a Savior. More importantly, it is about   
   looking outward and upward in faith at Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God,   
   the Author and Finisher of our faith, and the only Mediator between God and   
   man, through whom we have hope in Forgiveness, Redemption, Salvation and   
   Eternal Life. As we read in the Scriptures:   
      
   "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me."   
   John 12:32, KJV   
      
   "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of   
   witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily   
   beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,   
   Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy   
   that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set   
   down at the right hand of the throne of God."   
   Hebrews 12:1-2, KJV   
      
   "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ   
   Jesus;"   
   1 Timothy 2:5, KJV   
      
   Scientology's dangerous so-called "auditing" technique saves no one.   
   Scientologists are not mediators or dispensers of Salvation. Only Jesus   
   Christ saves us. Period.   
      
   Beware of Scientology! In the words of the Apostle Paul, it is "science   
   falsely so called", as we see by this verse:   
      
   "O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and   
   vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:"   
   1 Timothy 6:20, KJV   
      
   One final verse for your consideration:   
      
   "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the   
   tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ."   
   Colossians 2:8, KJV   
      
   You've been warned! Don't fall for Scientology's deceptions!

   It is important to remember that L. Ron Hubbard was actually a science   
   fiction writer before he founded the so-called "Church of Scientology".   
   Furthermore, it was only after his strange ideas and techniques were   
   rejected by the science and medical communities decades ago, that Hubbard   
   incorporated them into a so-called "new religion".   
      
   As I stated in my original post on this subject, Scientologists literally   
   pay many thousands of dollars in order to learn about this Xenu and   
   "Galactic Confederacy" nonsense. It is absolutely ridiculous what this   
   made-up, science fiction story claims, but Scientologists believe it and   
   embrace it as a part of their advanced, esoteric, secret teachings.   
      
   My suspicion is that the reason why top level Scientologists deny or try to   
   conceal the story concerning Xenu, and endeavor to make it as inaccessible   
   as possible to outsiders -- even initiating law suits -- is because they are   
   actually embarrassed by it, and by its ridiculous claims.
