For anyone who doubts that God Himself is behind earthquakes and other   
   so-called "natural disasters", and that He is the one who causes the Earth   
   to shake in His displeasure, then I ask you to seriously consider the   
   following verses. There is no need for any attempts at private   
   interpretation, as they speak plainly for themselves:   
      
   "The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall   
   be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. For the day   
   of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and   
   upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: And upon all   
   the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of   
   Bashan, And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are   
   lifted up, And upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall, And upon   
   all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant pictures. And the loftiness   
   of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low:   
   and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. And the idols he shall   
   utterly abolish. And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the   
   caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty,   
   when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth. In that day a man shall cast   
   his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for   
   himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats; To go into the clefts of   
   the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and   
   for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth."

   "Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger,   
   to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of   
   it. For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give   
   their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon   
   shall not cause her light to shine. And I will punish the world for their   
   evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of   
   the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. I will   
   make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of   
   Ophir. Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of   
   her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce   
   anger."

   "Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord GOD;   
   In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know   
   it? And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and   
   many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and   
   a mighty army: And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a   
   cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring   
   thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be   
   sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes. Thus saith the Lord GOD; Art   
   thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of   
   Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee

   mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every

   "Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD   
   is near in the valley of decision. The sun and the moon shall be darkened,   
   and the stars shall withdraw their shining. The LORD also shall roar out of   
   Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth   
   shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength   
   of the children of Israel."

   "For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I   
   will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; And I   
   will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will   
   fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts."

   "And again the word of the LORD came unto Haggai in the four and twentieth   
   day of the month, saying, Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I   
   will shake the heavens and the earth; And I will overthrow the throne of   
   kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen;   
   and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the   
   horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his   
   brother."

   "See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who   
   refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn   
   away from him that speaketh from heaven: Whose voice then shook the earth:   
   but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only,   
   but also heaven."

   "And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great   
   earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon   
   became as blood; And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig   
   tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. And the   
   heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain   
   and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and   
   the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men,   
   and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the   
   rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and   
   hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath   
   of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able   
   to stand?"

   city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the   
   remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven. The second woe   
   is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly. And the seventh angel   
   sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this   
   world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall

   earthquake, and great hail."

   "And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great   
   earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an   
   earthquake, and so great."

   God's Word has clearly spoken concerning this issue. If anyone tries to   
   convince you that earthquakes and other catastrophic events are only   
   "natural disasters" which have nothing to do with God, do not believe them,   
   because they are either ignorantly misguided, or else they are intentionally   
   rebelling against the truth of God's Word, and trying to deceive you.
