|    Military Tricks - Is The Game In Egypt U    |
|    26 Feb 11 21:06:00    |
As the Egyptian military slowly "sided" with the Egyptian public, and then       ultimately deposed Egyptian "president" Hosni Mubarak by means of a       bloodless coup d'etat, I warned that I smelled a rat in the mix. I strongly       suggested that the Egyptian military might just be playing a shrewd game of       deception.              Now, not even ten days later, it appears that the reservation and caution       that was expressed by so many other people like myself, appears to have been       fully warranted.              With the mass media's current emphasis on the ongoing bloody events in       Libya, I was wondering what was happening in the other nations where civil       unrest has already occurred; that is, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Yemen       and Bahrain. In particular, I have been wondering about Egypt, since the       news media has been rather silent.              Well, I was just reading an article in the New York Times entitled "Egyptian       Military Forces End to New Protest", and it seems that we have been given an       answer, and it does not appear to be good. The article states in part:              ----- Begin Quotes -----              Tens of thousands of protesters returned Friday to Tahrir Square, the site       of demonstrations that led to the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak two       weeks ago, to keep up the pressure on Egypt's military-led transitional       government.              But by early Saturday, the military made it clear there would be limits to       further dissent as soldiers and plainclothes security officers moved into       the square, beating protesters and tearing down their tents, witnesses said.              The first sign of tension arose when hundreds of people rallied in the       intersection in front of the prime minister's office, barred from taking       their protest any closer to the ornate building by armored personnel       carriers and a line of soldiers armed with Tasers.              . . . in Tahrir about a thousand people began to pitch tents and settle in       for the night.              After midnight, soldiers and police officers took over the square.              Salma Said was asleep in a tent when it began to fall down on top of her.       Outside people were screaming, and she emerged to see people being beaten by       soldiers and armed plainclothes security officers wearing masks.              "They had their faces covered like criminals," she said, "They only showed       their eyes."              "One of the officers threatened to shoot us and said he was going to set our       tent on fire," she said.              ----- End Quotes -----              While all of this has been going on, former "president" Hosni Mubarak has       apparently remained holed up in his palace at the resort town of Sharm       el-Sheik on the Red Sea coast. At the same time, there have been absolutely       no signs whatsoever that his appointed heir -- Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq       -- is going to be forced to step down by the Egyptian military. Furthermore,       the thirty-year Emergency Law is still in effect.              So one must wonder, what has really changed, if anything? Yes, we all       recognize that any real, meaningful, enduring change requires time to       formulate and to put into effect, but is this recognition being used to       simply return Egypt to the status quo? What do you think?                            Jeff Snyder, SysOp - Armageddon BBS Visit us at endtimeprophecy.org port 23       ----------------------------------------------------------------------------       Your Download Center 4 Mac BBS Software & Christian Files.
