|    Egypt's Two-Edged Sword and True Freedom    |

As you may have already heard, this past Sunday the Egyptian military took a       major step towards fulfilling some of the demands of the January 25th       Revolution protestors. Major news outlets are reporting that the Egyptian       Parliament -- which was Hosni Mubarak's puppet government -- has been       dissolved; the Egyptian Constitution has been suspended, and the military       chiefs have called for elections within six months.              While all of this sounds good on the surface, let us not fail to recognize       the inherent danger here as well. At this moment in time, only days after       the fall of a ruthless dictator, all political power in Egypt is now       concentrated in the hands of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, which       represents the highest echelon of leadership within the Egyptian military.       What they do with that power can go either of two ways. They can either use       that great power for the benefit of the people, or else they can turn around       and install another military-supported dictator under the same old mantra of       security and stability.              We also need to recognize that the success of the January 25th Revolution       rested upon one pivotal fact; and that is that the military chose not to       fire upon the Egyptian common people.              However, what if the opposition determines that the military is not moving       fast enough towards an open, free, democratic society in Egypt? Or what if       they realize that the Egyptian military has been playing a shrewd game of       deception all along? What if the youthful protestors decide to take to the       streets en masse once again in order to apply more pressure on the military?       Do you honestly believe that the Egyptian military and people like Field       Marshall Tantawi and Lt. General Enan will simply stand idly by the next       time?              I don't. Once the final protestors leave Tahrir Square in Cairo, it will not       be so easy for them to return again. The Egyptian armed forces, and the       returning police, will not let them. That is why even now, small numbers of       protestors have still refused to leave Tahrir Square. They are fully aware       of the cost of doing so; and they don't wish to lose the momentum of what       has already been gained. Once Tahrir Square is empty, it will remain empty.              So, in short, these are still very dangerous times for the people of Egypt.       While a great battle has been won through their perseverance and       determination, until an actual democratically-elected, civilian government       is in place, the war has not been won yet, and the leaders of the January       25th Revolution are very well aware of this fact. They must now move forward       wisely and cautiously, and not give in to a spirit of compromise.              Another danger is that the mass media will soon lose interest in the story,       and the people of the world will soon lose interest and forget as well; and       then devious deeds will again begin to occur in Egypt when the military       believes that not too many people are looking their way.              As the people of Egypt continue their struggle for political and social       freedom, let us also reflect upon the spiritual freedom that we have       obtained, through our faith in the atoning Sacrifice of Jesus Christ. We       were born in sin, were slaves to sin, and were destined to be judged and       condemned by sin; but the Blood of Jesus Christ has set us free, and       unleashed us from the shackles of sin, death and hell. Consider the       following verses:              "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my       word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the       truth shall make you free . . . If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye       shall be free indeed."       John 8:31-32, 36, KJV              "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach       the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach       deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at       liberty them that are bruised,"       Luke 4:18, KJV              "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have       received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father . . . Because       the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption       into the glorious liberty of the children of God."       Romans 8:15, 21, KJV              "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and       be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."       Galatians 5:1, KJV                            Jeff Snyder, SysOp - Armageddon BBS Visit us at endtimeprophecy.org port 23       ----------------------------------------------------------------------------       Your Download Center 4 Mac BBS Software & Christian Files.
