   The Moscow Times is an independent online newspaper that has been providing   
   news and analysis on Russia since 1992. Initially launched as a print   
   publication catering to the English-speaking expatriate community in Moscow,   
   it transitioned to an online-only format in 2017. In 2022, in response to   
   increasing censorship laws following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the

   Despite facing significant challenges, including being labeled a "foreign   
   agent" by Russian authorities in 2023 and declared an "undesirable   
   organization" in 2024, The Moscow Times continues to operate from abroad. It   
   maintains a Russian-language service and remains one of the few independent   
   Russian-language publications still active. The publication's editorial team,   
   including founder Derk Sauer, is committed to providing independent journalism
