Mac address hacking in DOS

   did there ever exist tools / firwmare / NVram tools to update mac addressess    
   (changing them) on any NIC's in the DOS days?   
      
   did this ever exist? I didn't need that back then but looking for it now... in   
   a non virtualized environment of course.
