JC> Yeah thats true, but I thought Doom3 went a long way to add a bit of
JC> better story to the whole thing. I felt like there was more of a purpose
JC> to what I was doing when I first played it (if I remember correctly).

Monsters! Killed everyone... Go kill em soldier!
(OK, I'm over complicating the story a bit, everyone was already dead when you
   get there)

Compared to Doom 2, it was an improvement.

AO>> FYI, in case you missed it, John Carmack and the gang released a
AO>> little game called "Rage", it's not the same four letters as Doom,
AO>> but it is four letters. Game wasn't that bad either.

JC> Ahh I saw that I didn't realize who did it though. I think it had a
JC> killer sale around XMAS on Steam or something and I didn't pick it up.

AO>> Also, Don't miss Bioshock Infinite. Fun gameplay, kind of a headtrip
    AO>> story, good ending.

JC> I still haven't played BioShock 2 but the first one was pretty awesome
JC> (also didn't finish that one). Total change in the setting in this one
JC> good to hear it doesn't take away from the franchise.

You can skip Bioshock 2, wasn't even done by the original studio as I recall.
   Infinite is... "Infiniately" (groan) better.

Another game you should look at (Guarantee you missed yet) is Spec Ops: The
Line. Came out in 2012, was easily my GOTY mainly for the story, dealt with
PTSDs and was a great story. Way underrated.

If more action is your cup of tea, Borderlands 2.
