When this type of game was new, I       would sit for hours playing games where I would tediously map on paper and       maintain notes. Because of the great amount of time this consumed, I didn't       get to play many of those until later, when computer games were starting to       incorporate these features, and I grew impatient having to do those things       myself and they would lose my interest.              I do have a version of THGTTG running on my BBS using DOSemu, but I haven't       spent much time with it other than making sure it would run as a 'door'. I may        have to go back and look at it again, since it can save progress.               Thinking back to The Long Dark, I find myself talking back to the game a lot..       when I pick up a feather and my character complains they don't think they can       carry much more. I don't think I've every carried so much that it resulted in       anything other than moving at a snails pace.               RS> Did you happen to play Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Infocom? I am        RS> the exact same way and I believe that's where the issue came from with me.        RS> There was a point in the game where you got told you needed a certain item        RS> to finish the game. If you didn't already have it, you had to start all        RS> over because you couldn't go back. The first time I went back and started        RS> over I didn't realize it was apparently random or there was at least a        RS> list of items it could be because I picked up the item it mentioned the        RS> prior time and it asked for a different item the next time. From that        RS> point on I grabbed everything in sight! :)                      RS> On Saturday March 28, 2020, John Hiemenz said to Ray Sbaitso...               JH>> That's me in a nutshell. Pick up and carry all        JH>> the things!              ... It would be illogical to assume that all conditions remain stable.       --- SBBSecho 3.10-Linux        * Origin: The Universal JoiNT - bbs.ujoint.org (1:154/40)       SEEN-BY: 1/120 123 14/5 15/0 2 18/0 19/36 34/999 90/1 104/115 106/201       SEEN-BY: 114/224 702 705 706 116/18 116 120/331 123/0 25 50 115 140       SEEN-BY: 123/150 170 755 128/2 73 187 253 135/300 153/7715 154/10       SEEN-BY: 154/30 40 700 218/700 222/2 226/30 227/114 201 400 229/101       SEEN-BY: 229/426 1014 230/150 152 240/5832 249/206 307 317 400 250/1       SEEN-BY: 261/38 100 266/512 267/155 275/10 282/1031 1056 291/1 111       SEEN-BY: 298/25 300/4 305/1 3 310/2 312/2 317/3 320/119 219 322/757       SEEN-BY: 340/400 342/13 200 396/45 640/1321 712/848 801/189 2320/105       SEEN-BY: 3005/1 3634/0 12 15 27 50 119 5020/1042       PATH: 154/40 10 3634/12 261/38 15/0 317/3 229/426           |
