   Ants Flocking To Pads
   27 Nov 13 08:38:20

A fellow Sysop and his wife have a female chihuahua, named
Amy, who is over 10 years old.

The problem lately is that after she relives herself on the
wee-wee pads that they have on the floor for her, in no time
at all, there are hundreds of ants flocking to the excrement.

I had never heard of an instance like that, but I suspect
that it could be because the dog might have diabetes or
blood sugar issues (I know that diabetes is common in older
dogs). I even checked the FAQ for Dogs door on the BBS...but,
   didn't find anything.

The dachshund my late wife and I had when we got married,
became diabetic (he was over 10 years old)...then he became
resistant to the insulin, and went blind from the glaucoma
and cataracts. However, he still had a working nose, and a
full set of teeth, as well as an attitude!! (see tagline
   below ).

We eventually had to put him down, as we knew it was the only
humane thing to do. Three months after putting him down, we
got a new dachshund, but I re-homed him the day my wife died
   almost 7 years ago.

Any comments on an "antsy issue" (pardon the pun) would be
   greatly appreciated.
