|    Animal rescue reflections    |

Hello everybody.              I decided to volunteer and help out an animal rescue group in my town.I read a       story in my local newspaper how this kennel slash rescue had severe fiscal       problems and I felt bad and gave a five dollar check. Sadly so, even with the       money raised they were not able to satisfy their loan holder and after 10       months plus they will be sent to the streets and the 7 dogs still remaining       will likely be sent to the animal control center where they will likely be put       down.              I gave around $20 in small donations over the last year and had my sister do       some graphic design work for them to help get the word out. They went from 30       to 7 dogs, but they were not able to get the rest adopted according to the       operators and the other volunteer who talks to me.              It is too heartbreaking to find out what will happen to those dogs. I did try       to network with another rescue group to see if they could pull one or two of       the dogs so we could at least reduce the number, but the group never replied       back to me. I know many rescue groups are clogged with dogs and cats. But I       wish I did not have to endure the sad news.              I am not going to give up. I may be a small donor, but I will make sure my       limited money has a great impact. Perhaps fund a local church's soup kitchen       for pets so they do not get sent to animal control to be put down. Then give       some money to another rescue organization that pulls dogs and cats from a       pound that has a 75% kill rate, and then maybe give a nominal amount that       helps homeless people in the desert with the food and wellbeing of their pets.                     I do feel for those pets that will be sent due to being evicted. I think of       what would happen if my two dogs had the same fate.                            Matt              ...
