Hello Everybody,              Shame on our President!              I am deeply saddened by the words that our President,       a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, uttered the other       night, again calling on the American people to go to war.              I am also deeply saddened that so many of my fellow       Americans have chosen to protest those actions, remaining       in the comfort of their own homes while our mercenary       soldiers do as they have been told by their dear leader.              Where are those patriotic Americans who stood up to be       counted during the Vietnam War, protesting the injustices       of an insane war that killed so many on all sides for no       f-cking reason?              Oh, that's right. Back then, the American people had       a conscience, choosing to do what was right rather than       allow political leaders gone bad to continue doing harm.       Such inaction by doing nothing is giving tacit approval       to those who do evil. What more will it take for my       fellow Americans to recognize that basic truth?              In response to President Obama's call to war concerning       the terror group ISIN the only answer there can be is to       do as the Good Doctor prescribed so long ago -              "Hate begets hate; violence begets violence; toughness       begets a greater toughness. We must meet the forces of hate       with the power of love. Darkness cannot drive out darkness;       only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only       love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies       violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending       spiral of destruction ... The chain reaction of evil - hate       begetting hate, wars producing more wars - must be broken,       or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation."       - Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.              The Power of Love. These are words that should make us       begin to think globally, for we are all inter-connected.              We must pray for our political leaders, that they may have       the wisdom to search for The Power of Love, which is sure to       lead and guide them to what is right and just for all.              We must pray for our men and women in uniform, who have       taken up arms in defense of freedom, for without them we       most certainly would be up the creek without a paddle.              This action by President Barack Obama will end badly,       having tragic consequences for all. Here it is, thirteen       years and several wars after the most devastating terror       attacks on the USA, and it seems nobody has learned a       thing. If such lessons from the past cannot teach us       that violence will only increase when violence is used,       what hope is left for us, or for anybody else in this       world?              The futility of taking up arms is a lesson we should have       learned long ago, and most especially after the debacle of       Iraq and Afghanistan. Yet here we are again, on the very       same precipice, as if George W. Bush had never existed.              --Lee              --- MesNews/1.08.05.00-gb        * Origin: news://felten.yi.org (2:203/2)    |
