Now that Pope Francis has given an interpretation of Catholic        doctrine that goes beyond Abortion, Gays and Contraception, the        undermining has begun.               In the first article I saw on the interview there were quotes        from a theologican trying to water down what he said. Since then        there have been others saying what he said to American doctors        against Abortion is a reversal to previous doctrine.               This reminds me of when John Paul II, I believe it was, restated        the Catholic teaching that the Catholic church is the church        founded by Jesus. That was called a reversal of John XXIII and        the Second Vatican Council.               Nope, there is no reversal, no rewriting of Catholic doctrine,        no counter rewriting. Everything he said is long time Catholic        teaching, taken from the Gospel. John XXIII never changed the        teaching of the Apolstolic heritage of the Catholic Church.        Francis did not change one word of the teachings on Abortion, or        anything else.               What he did was require the Church and it's adherents to        remember that the teachings of the Church, of the Gospels, are        far more than a narrow range of Thou Shalt Nots.               The Thou Shalts are actually more emphasized in the Gospels as I        see it. Failure to feed the poor and house the homeless and        minister to the poor and the sick and those in prison is the        only violation I have found in the Gospels where Jesus        specifically said He would send those guilty to hell.               Plenty of places where you risk damnation, but only there does        Jesus say "Go to hell!".                                          BOB KLAHN bob.klahn@sev.org http://home.toltbbs.com/bobklahn              ...
