Hello John,              JF>Wow, you guys are still here. Last time I logged on here I think       JF>Peter Brady was still with us.              Sadly, he is no longer with us.       Gladly, he is in a better place.       Wherever that is.              JF>What about ole John Wilson?              John left us, but not in the same way as Peter.              JF>Is he still around?              He has been transformed into another person.       Or entity. Depending on whatever state of mind       one happens to be in at any given time.              JF>I still have my old rig tucked away in a box. A 286, 512k ram,       JF>2400 baud modem, 5 1/4 inch disks, and monochrome screen (Gotta       JF>love those green letters) and 40mb, full height, hard disk, which       JF>I sometimes use as a boat anchor. :-)              And you mean to tell me that thing still works???       Good god, man, not even the thrift store would take       that in to sell to anybody for any price! Even if       it does work!              OTOH, I did lose a boat anchor one time. Not my fault.       I had invited a priest to go fishing with me, and when we       got to a favorite fishing spot I told him to throw out the       anchar. At first he didn't want to do so, but I insisted.       And then, after he threw out the anchor, the boat kept       moving forward into the marsh. Wondering how that could       have happened, I asked the priest what he had done. He       told me he did as I had asked, while also saying no rope       was tied to the anchor. I never bothered trying to       retrieve the anchor. But it was the last time I ever       took a priest fishing.              JF>If you guys wanna lock horns on some hot topics where the debate       JF>is viewed by 100s, possibly 1000s, go to Wikipedia and check out the       JF>talk pages on some of the pages like              Let's try for something more current. Such as SNAP. Republicans       want to cut the amount of funding for SNAP (food stamps), while at       the same time give government subsidies to farmers. Comments?              JF>In any case it's nice to know not everything is washed away by the       JF>tides of change.              And yet, Newt Gingrich says that "change" is what Republicans need       in order to become competetive as a national political party.              --Lee              --- MesNews/1.06.00.00-gb        * Origin: news://felten.yi.org (2:203/2)    |
