Went to a funeral today, for a friend of my wife. She was a   
    music teacher and performer. As such, so were many of her   
    friends, including my wife, and the woman sitting to my right at   
    the funeral dinner. Seems musicians tend to know each other.   
      
    While we were sitting at the table waiting for the rest of the   
    mourners to arrive, a couple of black women walked up to us and   
    joined us. One of them greeted my wife as an old friend, but I   
    had never met her. I recounted to her that I had told my wife   
    she had looked at her as if she knew her.   
      
    She looked at the white woman sitting to my right, and said, "Oh   
    yes, I know her."   
      
    I pointed to my left and said, no, this is my wife.   
      
    Funny what we assume.
