Diaspora was described to me as "instead of a million users on        a single social network with a single TOS, imagine a million people on a        million federated social networks determining exactly what they wanted to        and wanted not to share.              Identi.ca and Jabber make nice federated microblogging and IM environments,        but without the momentum of a large user base, they're in the shadow of        centralized platforms.              I thought that HTML5 and Flash telnet clients would help, but people still        don't want to get over the learning curve of a text interface.              Maybe we need to join with the devil and make a way to federate echoes with        Facebook pages? :)                                   ...
