   The German people loved Adolf Hitler, viewing him as their savior.   
   The Austrian people did the same.  And many others throughout Europe,   
   especially in France, as well as in Eastern Europe.   
      
   We (Americans) are the ones who demonized Hitler.  And we (Americans)   
   are the ones who won the war.  As such, it was us (Americans) who wrote   
   the history of WWII, how it all came about, and how we rebuilt Germany   
   and all of Europe (or at least the western part).   
      
   During the decades of partition, the very first sentence in the West   
   German constitution stated the first order of importance for the German   
   people - TO REUNITE ALL OF GERMANY!  That was the desire of all Germans,   
   whether they lived in the western part of Germany or in the eastern   
   part of Germany.   
      
   To this very day the German people do not blame Adolf Hitler or the   
   Nazis for starting WWII.  To Germans, Germany was fighting a defensive   
   war, with other countries being the aggressor.  "Why did you bomb our   
   cities?"  "Why did you bomb our schools?"  "Why did you bomb our   
   hospitals?"  "What have we done to deserve any of this?"   
      
   The partition of Germany was an effort by the Allied Powers to   
   contain Germany.  The creation of NATO was an American effort to   
   contain Germany.  The creation of the Warsaw Pact was a Soviet   
   effort to contain Germany.  Economic efforts to contain Germany   
   were also tried.  All to no avail, as the German people have   
   managed to overcome each and every obstacle placed before them.
