-> BK>>They also show he got discharged early.       ->        -> LL> Honorably, or dishonorably? There is a difference, you       -> LL> know.       ->        -> Actually I have not yet found his honorable discharge. All there       -> is found is his DD214 from the TANG. That is a seperation from       -> the TANG, not a discharge of his service obligation. He had a 6       -> year obligation. You don't get an honorable discharge until that       -> is done.       ->        -> BK>>IOW, he was AWOL.       ->        -> LL> GWB used his connections to get a coveted slot in the TANG       -> LL> as his means of avoiding the draft, thus avoiding military       -> LL> service in Vietnam. Dick Cheney used a different route,       -> LL> getting five deferments for the same reason (avoiding       -> LL> military service in Vietnam).       ->        -> LL> The far right will claim that such acts were perfectly legal       -> LL> at the time, and that GWB *could* have been sent to Vietnam,       -> LL> and Dick Cheney *could* have eventually been drafted and       -> LL> sent to Vietnam.       ->        -> Yeah, the could and do.       ->        -> LL> But most people know better, and see through that       -> LL> smokescreen, understanding why GWB and Dick Cheney did what       -> LL> they did. Both of them boys were too chickenshit to fight       -> LL> in any war regardless of where that war was being fought.       ->        -> I don't mind them dodging the draft, a lot of men did that. I do       -> object to their supporters trashing the records of decorated       -> combat vets.              Still speculating over George W. Bush's military service? He served       heroically in the Vietnam "war". Being in the National Guard was a very       dangerous situation during wartime. In WWII, for example, the NG were       among the very first to go. Thus GWB could have been shipped over to       Vietnam quickly, and at any time. Obviously the military, at that time,       thought he was even more valuable staying to protect our continental       shores! What if Vietnam had won the "war" and invaded Texas? Our front       line of defense?? Dubya!!!        --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5        # Origin: Since 1991 And Were Still Here!
