Hello Bob,               LL>> I stopped by the Chevrolet Dealership near the Lower 9th        LL>> Ward in New Orleans yesterday, for a look at the new        LL>> Silverado 1500 pickup. Just for fun, I took it out for a        LL>> test drive. I wanted to sense that new "feel" before they        LL>> become extinct.               LL>> The salesman (a black man wearing an Obama "Change" lapel        LL>> pin) sat in the passenger seat describing the truck and all              BK>Many dealerships won't let the salesmen ride with the test       BK>drive. Sometimes the test driver intends to steal the vehicle,       BK>and has to kill the salesman in the process. Or choses to.              My cousin Clyde forced the state of Louisiana to enact a       law requiring car dealerships to have a salesman ride with       the prospective customer as he/she test drove a car/truck.       Here is what happened -              Clyde was working as a mechanic at a local shop. He got off       work early on Friday, and then had a co-worker drop him off at       a local car dealership. He found a nice Corvette, and asked       a salesman if he could test drive the car. The salesman handed       him the keys, and Clyde took off.              The salesman waited for Clyde to return. Ten minutes passed by.       Then twenty minutes. The salesman was starting to get worried.       After thirty minutes of waiting, and still no Clyde (or the       Corvette). It soon became obvious to the salesman that Clyde       wasn't coming back, and calls were made to the authorities to       keep a lookout for the driver and missing Corvette.              Clyde enjoyed his long weekend at the beach in Florida, having       fun in the sand (with lots of bikini-clad girls). On Monday       morning he began his return trip home, and had gotten as far as       Biloxi, Mississippi when two police cars blocked his path. Or       rather, tried to block his path, as Clyde crashed the Corvette       into both police cars, totalling all three cars. The officers       were right there on the scene, ready to cuff Clyde and put him       in jail, when Clyde told them he had done nothing wrong as he       was merely test driving a car. And since he no longer had any       transportation to get back home, Clyde insisted the officers       provide him with a bus ticket.              To make a long story short, the car dealership had to eat the       car, the police officers had to drop all charges and give Clyde       a bus ticket back home, and the city of Biloxi had to buy two       new squad cars.              My cousin has since moved on to bigger and better things. Like       being a punk rocker in the Frozen Nawth...               LL>> its "wonderful" options. The seats were of particular        LL>> interest. He explained that the seats directed warm air to        LL>> your butt in the winter and directed cool air to your butt        LL>> in the summer heat.               LL>> Feeling like messing with him a bit, I mentioned that this        LL>> must be a "Romney truck".               LL>> Looking a bit angry and puzzled, he asked why I thought it        LL>> was a Romney truck.               LL>> I explained that if it were an Obama truck, the seats would        LL>> blow smoke up your ass year-round.               LL>> I had to walk back to the dealership.... damned guy had no        LL>> sense of humor.              BK>Yet he was decent enough to let you stop the truck before he       BK>pushed you out, or was he?              Well, had I been thinking I coulda taken him to Florida...              --Lee              --- MesNews/1.06.00.00-gb        * Origin: news://felten.yi.org (2:203/2)    |
