Hello Mark,               LL>> Apparently you have a reading comprehension problem.               ML>> as do you at times... reread my quote and take note of the        ML>> phrase "against the constitution" ;)               LL>> You can find the duties of the President under Article II of the        LL>> U.S. Constitution.              ML>we're not talking about the duties of the president... we're       ML>talking about your comment about growing pot being against the       ML>constitution...              The President of the United States is head of the executive branch.       As such, the President of the United States enforces the law, and is       limited by the U.S. Constitution in that regard. It is the Congress       that writes the law, being part of the legislative branch. It is       the Supreme Court that interprets the law, being part of the judicial       branch.              All of that is Civics 101. I suggest you take a refresher course.              ML>well, we were... EOT              The office of the President is by its very nature very weak,       except in the area of foreign affairs. What you have to keep       in mind is that the President's hands are tied when it comes       to what he can and cannot do in reference to pot farms. It       is the Congress that writes the laws, the President having       no Constitutional authority to do so. As such, the President       can only enforce such laws that exist. Or choose to ignore       them, at his own peril.              Matt M. does not like the idea of the President ordering the       feds to shut down pot farms. Rather than ranting and raving       against the President, such outrage would be better directed       against the Congress. IOW, encourage the Congress to change       existing legislation to that of your own liking. Once that       is done, the President's hands are tied. Tied with bonds       stronger than the strongest steel. Doing things that way,       Matt can have his own pot and eat his brownies too.              --Lee              --- MesNews/1.06.00.00-gb        * Origin: news://felten.yi.org (2:203/2)    |
