Hello Matt,               LL>> Republican Math -               LL>> Rich People + More Money = Jobs               LL>> According to perennial loser Mitt Romney, what this country needs are        LL>> more Job Creators. Jobs Creators such as himself. Unfortunately,        LL>> American voters are not very good at math, preferring to listen to a        LL>> motivational speaker rather than doing their homework...              MM>I can agree with you entirely even if Romney was president       MM>jobs WOULD NOT be created.              Oh, he would have created jobs. A war in Syria would have done       that. A war in Iran would also have done that. Wars in both       Syria and in Iran, as well as staying in Afghanistan, would have       provided lots of jobs. Of course, it would also have created       lots of dead American soldiers. Not to mention dead Syrians,       dead Iranians, and dead Afghans. But that's beside the point.              Oh. You mean civilian jobs. Now I understand.              Buglers will be in great demand.              MM>I think i would like to see a capital gains tax cut if you keep       MM>someone at 250% above the poverty level employed for over a year.              Isn't the United States already a low-tax country? Yes it is.       For both individuals and for corporations. It's true no matter       how you look at it, or how you comapare the US to other countries       or with the US of the past.              As individuals, we pay much less than we once did.       Corporations pay much less than they once did.       We (individuals and corporations) also pay much       less than in most other countries.              We need lower taxes like we need a hole in the head.       Especially corporations.              Conservatives lie through their teeth in an effort to make Americans       believe a falsehood, saying or suggesting that our budget deficits are       nothing more than a mere "spending problem" -              "We don't have this problem because we tax too little. We have       it because we spent too much."       - Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY)              Oh, my. The lies they do tell. It may be a popular talking point,       but the plain truth of the matter is that it simply is not true.       Deficits do not spring from spending levels alone, but rather are       the result of a mismatch between spending and revenue. That is       what those conservatives do not want to tell you, or for you to       find out about.              When revenue is as low as it is today, guess what happens?       WE END UP WITH BIG DEFICITS.              Look at the election results. Look at how many folks bought Mitt       Romney's snake oil. His sales pitch was that he was going to give       everybody a $5 trillion tax cut, and also increase military spending       by $2 trillion. All without raising taxes.              Cutting taxes does not raise revenue. Increased spending on       the military does not raise revenue. And there are not enough       loopholes that can be eliminated in order to even make up the       difference that Mitt Romney cited ($7 trillion).              And you want to bring down the deficit by lowering or eliminating       the capital gains tax???              The clear truth is that federal taxes in the USA are very low.       So low, in fact, that taxes today are even lower than they were       under President Ronald Reagan.              So, if you are a conservative, and you liked President Ronald       Reagan, you must truly *love* President Barack Obama.              --Lee              --- MesNews/1.06.00.00-gb        * Origin: news://felten.yi.org (2:203/2)    |
