Hello Richard,               LL>> that *requires* him/her to actually *defend* the US Constitution,        LL>> not merely to uphold it. As such, President Obama has no choice        LL>> but to enforce existing federal legislation in regards to pot        LL>> farms.               ml>> growing POT is against the constitution? really? and yet numerous of        ml>> our founding fathers grew pot on their farms... hummm...               RW> YEp, damned good cordage, useful for making pants, and hats, and               RW> "we thought it was kinda handy, to take a trip and never        RW> leave the farm. ... "               RW> "One day the revenuers came around and burnt down all our        RW> cute little weeds."        RW> "We just smiled and waved goodbye, sittin' on that sack of        RW> seeds. Y'all come back now, yahear!"               RW> A lot of people don't realize that the push to criminalize        RW> marijuana, and by extension hemp came from Dupont adn the        RW> other chemical companies who wanted to sell synthetic fibers for cordage.        RW> YEt those synthetic fibers weren't as long        RW> lasting, nor as versatile as good ol' hemp.               RW> The fact that certain varieties of hemp had psychotropic        RW> characteristics just made it easier for them to go to a few        RW> pet physicians who wanted political patronage or other        RW> favors, and pass around plenty of money.              Existing federal legislation in this matter really needs       to be upgraded. You cannot even import clothing that has       been made from hemp into this country. And I am talking       about fine clothing, not cheap stuff meant to be worn       on camping trips.              It gets even stranger. Pharmaceutical complanies in Puerto       Rico can make eyedrops for glaucoma patients, but no pharmaceutical       companies in the USA can do so. The eyedrops cannot be imported       into the USA, but patients can bring them into the USA if they are       traveling to the USA from Puerto Rico. Remember, Puerto Rico       is a territory, not a state. Talk about insanity laws. 60       Minutes did an expose on this years ago. Mike Wallace was       shocked.              --Lee              --- MesNews/1.06.00.00-gb        * Origin: news://felten.yi.org (2:203/2)    |
