      >>> Continued from previous message              >LL>The people (those who survived) in that theater are scarred for life.       >LL>Not just those who were wounded, some of whom have lifelong injuries.       >LL>Also, the families of those victims are also scarred for life. Not       >LL>just physically, but also mentally.              JM>So have thousands war vets, street mugging victims and plane crash       JM>survivors but I suspect most have put their personal       JM>incident behind them and moved on with their lives. Time       JM>for the majority of those Colorado people to, as they say,       JM>put your big girl panties on and get over it.              No amount of panties is going to be able to pay for the       hospital bills they have incurred. It is a tragedy they       have had to suffer and endure, and the best we as a society       can do is to help make things easier for them. But choosing       to do nothing is showing a very crass and demeaning spirit.       We can, and should, do better.              JM>Take what's his name out behind the barn and execute him.       JM>Closure for everyone. Low cost to the taxpayers.              Nothing ever brings closure to those who have lost loved ones.       Nothing ever brings closure to those who have been maimed/injured.       The best we can do is try to make things easier for those who are       suffering, to be there for them, to pray and to help make this       a better place for all.              Should the shooter be executed? I would rather he be locked       up in a maximum security prison for the rest of his natural life,       giving him the assurance that we (as a society) will make sure       he lives a nice, long life. To me, that is the worst possible       form of suffering anybody can ever be forced to endure. What       makes this form of punishment even more appealing is the fact       that the shooter is only 24 years old. Oh, the pain of it all,       to die slowly, ever so slowly, knowing the only way out is in       a pine box...              >LL>And yet what does the National Rifle Association have to       >LL>say about all of this? Sell more arms, to every American,       >LL>with unliminted quantities of ammo for all!              JM>That is a gross misrepresentation of the NRA.              Maybe a slight exaggeration. But only ever so slight.              >LL>What a sick society this has become.              JM>and getting sicker.              Blood, Sweat, and Tears. That is what this country was founded on.              --Lee                      * SLMR 2.1a * Backup not found: (A)bort (R)etry (P)anic              --- Maximus 3.01        * Origin: Xaragmata / Adelaide SA telnet://xaragmata.mooo.com (3:800/432)    |
