   Shelter is a necessity.  And yet the cost of shelter is completely   
   out of reach for many.  One out of eight Americans are homeless and   
   living on the streets.  Something is very wrong with that picture.

   One out of eight Americans manage to survive without owning or   
   renting a house/apartment.  Shelter for them might be a cardboard   
   box or a dwelling under a bridge, leaving them exposed to the   
   elements.  The lucky ones are those who have found semi-permanent   
   dwellings in our nation's jails, prisons and nuthouses.

   Duties and obligations are not "voluntary".  What would you think   
   of this country had you been a veteran, served in a foreign war (such   
   as Vietnam or Iraq), and had to seek medical help from a VA hospital   
   only to be turned away because your president (or congress) failed to   
   provide adequate funding for your needs?  This has happened in times   
   past, and continues to happen today.   
      
   Just as we should not let our politicians get away with shirking   
   their own duties and obligations, we should also hold others' feet   
   to the fire.  Especially when it comes to access to quality health   
   care.
