If the members of a       certain union make their union look bad, that's their own fault for doing so.              We're not in our line of work because we're OMFG pro-union nuts. We're in our       line of work because it's the best pay and benefits in the profession we chose       to do as a career. We show up at jobs and knock them out in way less time than       they were sheduled to take, while making sure they're done right. By making our       company look good, we've turned from one of the bottom-of-the-barrell start       from nothing companies to actually doing pretty damn good. We're putting up car       dealerships, schools, churches, strip malls, and building additions all over       southeastern Wisconsin now. With only about 12 actual employees in the field (a       few crews of 3-4).              If that makes the union look good, since we ARE a union company, then so be it.       But I'm pretty sure making ourselves and our small company look good by       giving people a quality product is first priority.               If/when our company doesn't have work, or if it were ever to fold, our job as       ironworkers is to either go to the hall and see if there's any work, or get on       the phone and start making calls to other union companies to see if they're       hiring. Word of your name (if you do make a name for yourself) makes it around       to these other companies, and if you're any good at what you do, you'll always       have a job if there's work out there. Our jobs are not protected whatsoever.       You can make $0/yr in this trade, anywhere up to $150,000/yr. All depends on       your skillset and how much you're willing to work.              --       Nick aka axisd - telnet://bbs.pharcyde.org        http://pharcyde.org       --- SBBSecho 2.13-Linux        * Origin: thePharcyde_ telnet://bbs.pharcyde.org (Wisconsin) (1:154/10)    |
