Hello Bob,              On Tue 2012-May-22 05:23, BOB KLAHN (1:123/140) wrote to MATT MUNSON:               MM> Rand may have some Libertarian sensibilities, but he is        MM> more in the Tea Party camp. Personally I think he would be        MM> better as a Senate Majority Leader than              BK> Rand seems to have no sensibilities other than what is best for        BK> Rand. Being in the Tea Party camp should exclude him from       BK> running as a republican.              Yeah, but the tea party folks are essentially joined at the       hip with the right wing of the Republican party, which       bought and paid for them.              The thing is, most libertarians I converse with regularly,       and I do with a few, are very leery of Rand, and the tea       partiers in general. The tea party according to many is       seen as a dupe of a few plutocrats.              the trouble is, same plutocrats would like to coopt       libertarianism under their banner, but these aren't folks       interested in liberty in the true sense of the word. These       are folks hwo are into "More for me, screw you!"       Most of those I would categorize as true libertarians are       from the 'ain't nobodoy's business if you do" school. Your       beliefs, your choices are just that, yours. Goverment has       no business meddling in private morality issues if it       doesn't directly impact safety. I've evolved abit from that position, but       still unless it can be proved that it impacts       such things as ourairwaves, water supplies, environment etc. then it should be       left alone.                     Regards,        Richard       ---        * Origin: (1:116/901)    |
