Right, and a lot of those single issue movements and their
supporters refuse to make common cause with others to get
closer to what they want. See below.
RW> But, this anger too will fizzle out imho. At least our

BK> Yep. As a result they produced the lowest poverty rates and the
BK> most powerful economy anyone ever saw. Now it's all going away.

There was another factor which went into that. Consider the period after "the
depression" FDR and his new deal. FDR was another one of the oligarchs, but
   he and the others
understood something vital to their own survival. The bomb
was made, the fuse was lit, and they had to defuse it, or
lose everything. Hence the new deal, a lot of fair labor
   standards regulations, etc.

Remember that depression was just one in a series of
depressions from the 1880's onward. The working folks were
getting angrier, and the one percenters of that time knew
that without some changes there would be burned buildings
   and blood in the streets.

RW> with its warm fuzzies and the tea party with its
RW> manipulation of the gullible seniors will both make a lot
RW> of noise then pfft. Meanwhile isolate them in their homes,
RW> they'll play with their electronic boxes and be happy good
RW> little sheeple again when they realize there isn't a damn
RW> thing they can do about it.

BK> They pushed it too far. When it gets to where their homes are
BK> being lost there is no place to be isolated. That part they hadn't
BK> anticipated. And that's where the anger grows.

Maybe so, but that anger has to build to a level it was when FDR took office
before you'll see any real attention given
these issues. The tea party is coopted already, right out
of the gate by those who put the money in, and Occupy
doesn't understand that a bunch of folks sleeping in the
park adn texting on cell phones does not a social change
movement make. Social change is a messy thing, often the
child of some pretty extreme violence.

RW> Welcome to the culmination of the society depicted by
    RW> ORwell.

BK> Only Orwell assumed a war to take people's minds off things. He
BK> didn't consider the possibility of enemies so dangerous they don't
BK> dare start the war. The wars they do dare start are so expensive,
BK> and so meaningles, they don't really work. That and a lot of the
BK> players have different rule books.

Keep 'em dividied with single issue politics and toys bought on credit, works
almost as well as the war.

BK> I see it all coming apart in the not too distant future, unless
   BK> someone gets it together.

The only way someone is going to get it together is if
something rises up similar to the labor and social justice
movements of the early decades of the 20th century.
