Hi, Lee Lofaso! How are you?
on Monday, 09 of April, I read your message to alexander koryagin
about "Writing about the first amendment"

AK>> BTW, there is a common thing between Israel and Serbia. Both
AK>> pretend to the lands belonged them long ago.

LL> The white man conquered the lands of North America. The white man
LL> also conquered the lands of South America. The white man now
LL> pretends the lands belonged to them long ago...

In any casy _we know_ what is going to happen when one nation is going to
settle in a place where the land occupied by another nation. Success can be
only in one case - the stronger nation, the conqueror, annihilates the weak
nation. We saw that crime during the time of the colonialism.

In the case with Palestine we see that quite obviously Palestinians were not
the people who banished Jews from Palestine. Vice versa - Arabs were the
people who banished Christians from Palestine.

AK>> Jews were ousted from Palestine two thousand years ago by
    AK>> Christians.

LL> Romans (especially Roman emperors and soldiers) were not Christian.
LL> Not in the first few centuries AD. And by the time Constantine had
LL> declared himself a Christian, the Jewish people had been long gone
    LL> from Palestine.

   Well, probably you are right.

LL> Titus was a Roman general who ordered his armies (which were
LL> comprised mostly of Arabs) to surround the city of Jerusalem and
LL> put an end to a Jewish rebellion. Most of the Jews fled into the
LL> wilderness, except for some hardheads who decided to wall
LL> themselves up inside of a temple. So the great general Titus had to
LL> starve them out in a siege.

Roman had some multinational allies, but it is a great exaggeration to say
that Roman legions were mostly consisted of Arab. It is probably taken from
   some Israel textbook.

LL> Although it took four years, the Temple Street Occupiers finally
LL> ran out of lambs and dispersed in search of more lambs to
LL> slaughter. And then the Arab soldiers entered the Temple, and were
LL> amazed at what was left to them. All the walls were covered with
LL> gold. Pure gold. But they couldn't take it with them, because all
LL> the gold was stuck onto the rock, as if the sun had cooked it there
LL> so it could not be removed.

Looks like a legend, taken from the same source. Does anybody believe that
gold could not be picked out from sandstone?

LL> Titus knew he was in trouble then, with his Arab soldiers wanting
LL> to get paid and about to revolt against him. However, Titus was a
LL> Roman general and was able to quickly think on his feet. General
LL> Titus then gave the order to his men to "Burn the Temple!" The
LL> great heat of the fire caused the gold to melt into the rocks and
LL> disappear before their very eyes. That put an end to the gold
LL> problem. Or so Titus thought. Until one Arab soldier decided to
LL> take a rock home with him as a souvenir. In between the rocks,
LL> hidden in the cracks, was where all that gold had run off to. And
LL> that is when all the real trouble began. The Arab army went mad,
LL> tearing down each stone, grabbing as much gold as their gowns could
LL> carry. And off they went to various lands which we now call Egypt,
    LL> Libya, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria...

I guess it is a book for reading to the Israeli children, to sleep well. ;-)

LL> A few decades later there was another revolt in Palestine. Titus
LL> had long since retired, so it was up to another Roman to settle
LL> things. But not to worry. Hadrian was there, and knew what to do.
LL> The Jewish people were a very superstitious lot, and Hadrian merely
LL> had to show them a sign of who he was and they would run away.

Yeah, mad Arabs were gone all other countries at that time, Hadrian was forced
   to invent something new. ;)

LL> Hadrian grabbed some cotton, daubed it with alcohol, stuffed it
LL> into his cheecks, and stood before the Jewish masses, took a deep
LL> breath, and lit up a match. Yes, it is true that Hadrian looked
LL> exactly like Marlon Brando in The Godfather. But that was not the
LL> scary part. When Hadrian let out his breath, he breathed out great
LL> balls of fire. That was when the Jews knew it was time to go.
LL> Hadrian was the Antichrist and was going to send everybody straight
    LL> to Hell..

... and Jews ran after Arabs... BTW, thereafter they lived together, side by
side and throve over a thousand years until the moment Jews decided to migrate
to Europe. Where Christians waited for them to embrace.

AK>> We can understand how painfully Serbs feel when looking at Kosovo.
AK>> And especially, at the help NATO provided to the Kosovo Albanians
    AK>> in 1999.

LL> Was it a religious war? Or was it economic, rather than religious?
LL> The entire area of Yugoslavia is now broken up into many parts. How
LL> was it possible for the Olympics to have been held in an area that
LL> completely fell apart shortly thereafter? At the time the Olympics
LL> were held, who would have thought Sarajevo would become a bloody
    LL> war zone?

Probably Yugoslavia was a great example what can happen when nationalistic
leaders come to power. Blood, blood and blood.

AK>> The way out is obvious - Albanians and Serbs must build a civilian
AK>> state where all the nations could feel themselves freely and not -
    AK>> oppressed.

LL> Nah. What Albanians and Serbs need is for Marshall Tito and Mother
LL> Teresa to come back to life and get married. But I don't think that
LL> will happen. Not anytime soon, anyway.

While Albanians gravitate towards Europe, and not to Al-Queda, it is possible.
Besides Kosovo has nothing to sell in Europe. It doomed to trade with Serbia,
or drag out a proud but miserable existence.

AK>> It is an ugly mistake when somebody in Europe or the US helps to
AK>> anybody to build a nationalistic state for a particular nation! He
AK>> helps to build a new building with bombs laid inside.

LL> Is nationalism the root of all evil? What is the difference between
LL> nationalism and patriotism? Or is there any difference?

It is clear IMHO. Nationalism is based on superioriry of a particular nation,
patriotism is based on conception of Fatherland. Nations of people are not
   important.
