...               RW> Also, do more sea basing, which would require developing        RW> faster transport for material.               BB> Not sure what this term means? I know that Guam is becoming a key        BB> base as the new target is China. Is that what you mean by sea        BB> basing?               RW> YEp, or having them aboard flattops, such as carriers, etc.        RW> when preparing for a deployment. That way we dont' have to        RW> ask other countries and play mother may I, such as Pakistan, etc. The        RW> aritcleprobably explains it better than I.              Ok, got it now. Only thing I see that could be a problem is the long tours at       sea for those in the Navy - a thing of some concern now in fact. Land based is       a bit better for the married as in most cases the family can follow, but not on       a carrier. :)              I know, if the Navy wanted you to have a wife they would have issued you one.       :) But the real world proves that once the guy gets around 25 or so he does       marry, then a family, then the problems with long tours, often leading to       divorce or whatever.               RW> The ideas made sense to this old man anyway.               RW> Anybody else read the piece care to comment?                      BB> Didn't read it, so can't comment.               RW> YOu might find it an interesting read if you can still find        RW> the March issue on a newsstand somewhere. Wish Bob Ackley        RW> were still around, I'm sure he read it. Saw a letter from        RW> him to the editor in that issue as well re an article a        RW> month or so ago.              Where is Bob? He used to post in Memories now and again. Did he die?                                            --- MultiMail/Win32 v0.49        * Origin: Fidonet Since 1991 And Still Here. Join Us: www.DocsPl (1:123/140)    |
