BK>> Bill Maher is a libertarian, not a democrat.               JM> BIll Maher gave a million dollars to BHO's super pac.               When I was working in the 2008 campaign there were a lot of        republicans supporting Obama. It's not a matter of being        affiliated with him, but being so disgusted, or frightened, of        the republican alternatives as to be willing to go to that        extent to oppose them.               As I have said, over and over, I have never voted for any        presidential candidate, but I've voted against a lot of them.               I worked for Kerry in 2004, not because I was all that thrilled        with him, but because Bush was so much worse.               I worked for Obama in 2008, not because he was the best possible        candidate, but because he was the best candidate we had.               I suspect Maher donated the money because the republicans are so        bad, not because he thinks Obama is so good.               Maher is not a liberal, he is a libertarian. With Vegan        inclinations. I have never seen his HBO show, but his network TV        show was a lot more restrained. Maybe they should not have        forced him off network TV.               Even then he said a lot of things I found offensive, but he was        not killing people the way Cheney did. He often said things        about women not being suited for some safety service jobs, like        police and fire fighter, that were not very accurate. His        knowledge of such things, and some others, was very limited. I        watched his shows because he had guests who argued with him, not        to hear his rants. Sometimes he did get it right, though. Fairly        often, actually.               I had not known of this particular donation before, nor those        specific comments, so I looked them up. These are some comments        by Brent Bozell I found on Newsmax.               "There is Maher's arrogant description of George W. Bush as a        "retarded child emperor" and a "terrorist's wet dream."               I object to the reference to a "retarded child", other than that        he's pretty well hit it on the head.               ...               "Shouldn't Team Obama send the million dollars back?"               A superpac is independent, Team Obama cannot send the money        back.               ...               "Maybe he wants to start his general-election campaign by        reminding all the conservatives that his million-dollar donors        want them to die violent deaths."               Probably not even the majority of them, but some donors do, and        some of those they want to die would be doing the world a favor.               ...               "In addition to Katherine Harris, let's review who Maher jokes        should be dead."               If Katherine Harris had not done her part to steal the 2000        election over 5000 Americans and 100,000 Iraqis who died in the        war for oil and the Afghan debacle would be alive today. That        and we probably would not have a debt that doubled in the 8 Bush        budgets, nor a near depression.               ...               "There's Rush Limbaugh: "Why couldn't he have croaked from        [OxyContin] instead of Heath Ledger?""               I don't much care about Heath Ledger, but Rush would prevent a        lot of harm in this world by leaving it.               "Dick Cheney when he was vice president: "I'm just saying if he        did die, other people, more people would live. That's a fact.""               True. Or at least before 2000.               "Glenn Beck when he was a Fox News host: "When we see crazy,        senseless deaths like this, we can only ask why, why, why        couldn't it have been Glenn Beck?""               "Sarah Palin: "Sarah Palin screaming about death panels? You        know what, Sarah, if we were killing off useless people, you'd        be the first to know.""               Considering the damage those people have done, the deaths they        have been and will be responsible for, I really don't have much        of a problem with those comments.               Dick Cheney in particular, has the blood of thousands of        Americans on his hands.                     BOB KLAHN bob.klahn@sev.org http://home.toltbbs.com/bobklahn              ...
