Hello John,               LL>> testified before a congressional committ               JM>> It was a press conference not a congressional hearing.        JM>> There was NO testimony as Fluke was not sworn in.               LL>> Sandra Fluke gave her testimony in front of the House Democratic        LL>> Steering and Policy Committee, during a meeting that was held by        LL>> House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi.               LL>> That is a far cry from a "press conference", as you so put it.               JM>> It was a press conference, a photo op No more than that.               LL>> The House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee is a congressional        LL>> committee, not a press conference. When an individual testifies before        LL>> a congressional committee, it is called a hearing or congressional        LL>> hearing, not a press conference.               DD>> Apparently Massey subscribes to the Josef Goebbels theory of truth ....               JM> Apparently Drum and Lofaso do not know the difference between an Official        JM> Congressional hearing and a press conference staged as an unofficial        JM> "hearing".              Apparently Massey does not know the difference between the House       Oversight Committee and the House Democratic Steering and Policy       Committee. Both committees held official hearings. The difference       is who was allowed to tesitify before those committees, and who was       not.              House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) refused       to allow Sandra Fluke to testify before his committee, on grounds that       he did not find her "appropriate and qualified" to testify. So who       was allowed to tesitify before his committee? Five conservative men -       and no one else.              Democrats then invited Sandra Fluke to testify before the House       Oversight Committee, at a meeting that was held by House Minority       Leader Nancy Pelosi. Nobody else was invited to testify. However,       a Republican committee made sure the hearing could not be televised.              That's where YouTube comes in...              JM>No surprise there, as most Democratic supporters are not smart       JM>enough to see through the smoke and mirrors.              Smoke and mirrors? Where? Nothing in Sandra Fluke's testimony       is about herself. Nothing! Read the full transcripts for yourself.       Or watch it on YouTube.               JM> This from BlackAmericaWeb:        JM> Fluke is a Georgetown University Law School student. She wanted to testify        JM> before California Rep. Darrell Issa's committee about the controversy over        JM> President Obama's policy compelling religiously affiliated institutions to        JM> provide coverage for contraceptives in their health insurance packages.               JM> She never got that chance. Issa ruled she was too late, and that, since       she        JM> wasn't a member of the clergy, wasn't "qualified" to testify. So       California        JM> Rep. Nancy Pelosi arranged for Fluke to testify before an unofficial        JM> congressional committee.              Issa's words were that he had not found Fluke "appropriate and       qualified" to testify. So who was qualified (according to Issa)?       Five conservative men. And nobody else.               JM> From Daily KOS:        JM> Ms. Fluke was DENIED the right to speak even though the ranking Democrat       on        JM> Issa's Committee              Republicans control the House. Darrell Issa (R-CA) is the chairman       of the House Oversight Committee. Therefore, Republicans get to say       who is allowed to testify, and who is not. That's the way it works.       Democrats can protest all they want, but no amount of protest would       or could change the rules.               JM> From the Daily Beast:        JM> After several days of preparing her remarks with help from other students,        JM> Fluke received a call on Wednesday evening to inform her that Issa, the        JM> chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, had        JM> decided that she would not be permitted to testify, saying that Democrats        JM> had submitted her name too late for consideration.              That was not his reason, as stated earlier. It might have been his       reason for denying Democrats their wish as to who could testify, but       it was not his reason as to why he denied Fluke to testify.               DD>> "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will        DD>> eventually come to believe it."               JM> Except what I said is not lie        JM> from TheBlaze.com              Just poor reporting on their part. ;)               JM> House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi might be having a having a bad week.              Nancy Pelosi (and other Democrats) are having a great week.       Especially President Barack Obama, as the number of jobless continues       to decline, the economy continuing to improve, our troops returning       home from Iraq and Afghanistan...               JM> Specifically, her star witness, Sandra Fluke, has arguably turned out to       be        JM> a fraud, who has ties to one of the more radically pro-abortion groups in        JM> the country. Yet the former House Speaker, in a move which will likely       draw        JM> at least some grudging admiration for its sheer audacity, has doubled down        JM> regarding Fluke's testimony in a press conference today.              Sandra Fluke is now a hero to many Americans, especially women, as       her good name and reputation has been dragged through the mud by sickos       such as Rush Limbaugh.              If you want to know who the real "fraud" is, take a look at a       side-by-side comparison of statements made by Sandra Fluke vs.       statements made by Rush Limbaugh -              http://womensissues.about.com/ed/reproductiverights/a/       Rush-Limbaughs-Comments-And-Sandra-Flukes-Testimony-Fact-Vs-Fiction.htm              That should be enough to sink your boat. :)              --Lee              --- MesNews/1.06.00.00-gb        * Origin: news://felten.yi.org (2:203/2)    |
