   -> -> Slavery was an issue the Framers of the Constitution deliberately
   -> -> put off, as it was too divisive. Unfortunately, no peaceful

   -> FS> The Founding Fathers ('scuse the non-politically-correct term) did

   -> What's non-politically correct about "Founding Fathers"? Those mothers
   were all
   -> men. Even if, statistically, one or more of them might have been queer.

   I've never read that any of the Founding Fathers were queer, but that's
   beside the point. Political Correctness is involved when one uses
   "Fathers" instead of the Politically Correct "Founders" ... or, in extreme
   cases to appease the wimmin libbers: "Mothers" ... of course that term
   enters another realm, that involving the expression "Motherfornicators" or
   some such ... [sigh] ...

   -> FS> mention slavery in the constitution since they assumed it would

   True, tho more today than two centuries ago ...

   -> FS> Correctness did not arise because of the Emancipation Proclamation
   --
   -> FS> it was a natural outgrowth of the mess Lyndon Johnson made of his
   -> FS> presidency.
   ->
   -> Agree that Lyndon Bird Johnson made a mess of his presidency. Disagree
   that
   -> political correctness is a natural outgrowth of that mess. More like,
   political
   -> correctness is an outgrowth of Dr. Spock (the real one, not the
   character
   -> Leonard Nimoy portrayed - Nanoo, nanoo).

   I disagree. Lyndon Johnson's beloved Vietnam "war" caused a general
   distrust of government, followed by a distrust of *all* authority. Then
   the so-called "counter culture" came up with expressions later dubbed
   "politically-correct", i.e., those expressions they agreed with.
