Hello John,              >LL>If you are in favor of the Libertarian Party (and its principles),       >LL>then you will be supportive of Libertarian candidates rather than       >LL>candidates of other political parties. By supporting candidates       >LL>of other political parties, you are doing your own political party       >LL>a disservice.              JM>It might be doing the Libertarian Party a disservice but saving       JM>this country by defeating Obama and slowing the Democrats is much       JM>more important. The only way to do that is to vote with the only       JM>other party that has a realistic chance to win.              The words you just wrote indicate exactly what the Democratic Party       and the Republican Party want you and everybody else to believe. Since       it is impossible for anybody other than a Democrat or a Republican to       win the presidency, it makes absolutely no since for anybody to support       an independent or third party candidate.              However, there is also a sinister element that you and others       are perhaps not aware of -              Putting party first above that of country is an extremist position.       Not only extremist, but alarmingly dangerous. Look what happened in       Russia. And in China. And in Cuba. And in other places around the       world. And not just on the left, but also the right. For example,       Adolf Hitler and his one-party Nazi state was every bit as bad as       Joe Stalin's one-party Communist state. One can say the same thing       about Benito Mussolini's one-party Fascist state. And all other       one-party states, as all such states are anti-democratic.              A one-party Republican state would be every bit as bad or evil       as a one-party Democratic state. Or any other one-party state       by any given name. As such, any individual who supports a       one-party state is doing both himself/herself as well as all       of society a disservice.              I lived in a one-party state for decades. The one-party state       I lived in was created by Huey P. Long. He was not so much a       Democrat as he was a Populist. The Long Era finally came to an       end when Edwin Edwards was carted off to prison. Ironically,       it was Edwards himself who blew up the house that Huey P. Long       built. But that is another topic.              In a one-party state, in order to get any service from the       state an individual had to get the blessing of a politician       who was in the loop. Any politician outside of the loop had       no power or influence. If you needed a job, especially a job       that paid real money, you had to go see one of those "favored"       politicians. Otherwise, you were just wasting your time.              In Soviet Russia, there were only 24 million Communists at       its highest number. That was in a land of 350 million people.       You wanted a job? Go see Uncle Joe, local commissar for the       city of Vlosk. He get you job. But only if he like you...              Now you know why so many folks hated the Communist system.       Ditto with the Nazi system. And the Fascist system. And all       other anti-democratic systems.              --Lee                      * SLMR 2.1a * You hear that honky over there?
