Hello Bob,              >BB>I can remember buying war bond stamps while in Jr. High School.       >BB>(1943-45) Once a week you were expected to buy a stamp, 10c as I       >BB>recall, then you pasted them in a booklet and when full you turned       >BB>that in for a 25 buck 'war bond.' I have >a partially completed book       >BB>I bought at the swap meet and it sure brought back memories of those       >BB>war days. Of course, we were running up the debt, but we had       >BB>to fund the war, or so the tale went.              >LL>Not to worry, amigo. Mexican workers will save America. Again.       >LL>American boys and girls go off to war. Mexican boys and girls go       >LL>off to work. Just like Snow White's seven dwarves. "To work, to       >LL>work, it's off to work we go..."              BB>I though it was " Hi Ho. Hi Ho, it's off to work we go.." :)              Actually there are two chants. One north of the border, and       one south of the border. Do keep that in mind. :)              BB>Later modified to "I owe, I owe, so it's off to work I go..."              Are you kiddin' me? When was the last time undocumented workers       ever owed anything to Uncle Sam?              >BK>America is at risk of becomming a third world country, and it       >BK>would take a very long time to climb out of that hole.              >BB>Becoming? One of the definitions of a 3rd world country is the       >BB>wealth gap between the very rich and the very poor. In other words,       >BB>it's a healthy middle class that kept it us from that for many years.       >BB>I see that class slowly fading into the sunset and then we'll be just       >BB>like Mexico - guys jumping the fence to go south.              >LL>Cajuns went from speaking French to speaking English and are on the       >LL>road to speaking Spanish...              >BB>>It may take a few more years, but I just don't see how we can stop       >BB>that if we continue the way we're going.              >LL>Habla espanol?              BB>Si, pico.              We are becoming more and more like Mexico, with only two groups       of people - a handful of folks being the wealthy class and a huge       number of folks being the poverty class, with no middle class at       all. With that in mind, maybe we should quit dreaming The American       Dream and start dreaming The Mexican Dream. Or is that too horrible       a thought to even contemplate?              --Lee                      * SLMR 2.1a * Honkys rumble, Crackers crumble              --- Maximus 3.01        * Origin: Xaragmata / Adelaide SA telnet://xaragmata.mooo.com (3:800/432)    |
