That's Louisiana's natural gas       industry at work. Yes. Swamps can smell that way, and they can also smell green       and fresh. It just depends on the specific area.              I remember the peculiar strong odor of sulfur gas that we get after a hurricane       passes. It stirs up the bottom of the bayous and shallow lakes causing the       nasty gas to be released.
