You have to disable the onboard array       controller and install another raid controller, like an LSI Megaraid 9261-8i.       You can connect the drives to the LSI controller and no blasting fans in the       DL380. I ran mine like that for years before I had the SuperMicros.              But I wasn't a fan of those small 2.5" drives anyway since you couldn't find       anything larger than 1TB which not near enough these days.              I have been using LSI Megaraid 9361-8i controllers in my latest upgrade, which       also has 1G of battery backed up cache. Works like a champ. I had to swap       out the cables when I went to from the 9261-8i to 9361-8i, but the upgrade was       well worth it. The speed and rebuild times are WAY faster.              - Mark              --- WWIVToss v.1.52         * Origin: http://www.weather-station.org * Bel Air, MD -USA (1:261/1304.0)       SEEN-BY: 105/81 106/201 124/5009 128/187 129/12 14 42 102 125 160       SEEN-BY: 129/165 305 328 153/7715 154/110 218/700 226/30 227/114 229/110       SEEN-BY: 229/112 206 275 307 317 400 426 428 470 664 700 705 261/1       SEEN-BY: 261/220 1304 1306 1310 266/75 512 618 625 630 267/152 154       SEEN-BY: 291/111 292/854 320/219 322/757 342/200 396/45 460/58 633/280       SEEN-BY: 712/848 902/26 5075/35       PATH: 261/1304 1 266/512 229/426           |
