    NB> Didn't you mean to type "isn't"? :)

   Nope!

NB> But anyway, one reason is simply liking the idea of having a large
NB> family. When you grow up in one, it seems a lot more normal... and,

NB> there's always enough kids for outdoor games (soccer, tag, etc) without

Tag only needs too to tag-o...

NB> Of course, being the oldest of eight siblings, and having helped raise
NB> the younger half or so of them, I was ready for a slightly smaller
NB> family... 3 or 4 sounded good to me. :) Hubby, being the younger
NB> of two, thought we should have 2 or 3... so we figured we'd compromise

   2 or three aren't bad.

NB> But, my parents have 34 living grandchildren... if I counted right.
NB> Something like that, anyway... :) The largest families of them have
NB> 5, 7 and 10, respectively... And still no Catholics among them...

   That's a lot of kids!

The majority of the kids I know were from families of 2 to 4
children. But, in my extended family, there are 2 households
   of only 1 child.
