Hey Danny!              Jan 21 16:34 06, Danny Ceppa wrote to Maurice Kinal:               MK>> Do you have a terminal package that can network? If so and you wish               DC> I probably do, but I find reading/replying more convenient with         DC> an OLR.               Nothing like that here yet. I figure most BBS's out there can already handle       that functionality and am unlikely to compete unless it is compressed pure       ascii formatted packets transferred with a suitable networking protocol,       definetly *NOT* zmodem. That is too goofey on a ethernetted interface. The       DOS-think people can keep it. :-)               DC> There's always straight I-net mail. But, that defeats the         DC> purpose of getting others involved.               Not really if the BBS knows how to handle specific email and can convert to       whatever format is condusive to networked echoes. I've done it before with my       own special email that converted the inbound to Fido friendly pkt. Piece of       cake. However I think the compressed pure ascii method is best all things       considered and is easiest to convert to any format. I have lost the faith       about what constitutes for email these days and the less traffic there the       better methinks.              ftp is best but there are a few http apps that rival it, albiet a tad limited       in ability compared to any half decent ftp client. Streaming compressed       packets to a telnet client is also a definite possibity seeing as that is       something we happen to do here on the local network for multimedia stuff.              Life is good,       Maurice              --- Msged/LNX 6.1.2        * Origin: The Pointy Stick Society Headquarters - Ladysmith BC Ca (1:261/38.9)    |
