NB> And I'm only a borderline techie at best, I think.

MK> I think you're on this side of that border.

Perhaps. But not very far over. I usually sound more proficient in
particular areas than I may actually be. I learn some magic spells, and
can use, and teach, them... so I sound like I know something. Or, to
put it another way, I've always been pretty good at foreign languages.
   :)

    NB> I was never shown/taught it...

MK> Neither was I. Everything I know was learned the hard way although
MK> some gained knowledge was prompted from reading. There is some really
MK> good stuff out there but it is hard to find.

This is a good example of what I mean about not being really a techie.
If I'm not* taught/shown it, I have a very hard time even figuring out
where to start looking for the knowledge. Sure, I can extrapolate a
little* from program to program, and if the [H]elp is good and easy to
access, I may be able to figure out a bit, but I really am lost without
my Wizard down the hall. :) That little bit of figuring things out is
why I'll not argue that I might be a little over the border, but on the
other hand, if I haven't used some program for a while, all the magic
spells are practically unknown again.... :)

NB> already know that I use some *nix commands on this machine... :)

MK> Yep. Probably some VMS leakage too.

   I wouldn't be surprised, actually... :)
