Hey Danny!              Dec 23 17:15 05, Danny Ceppa wrote to Maurice Kinal:               DC> That's in using PKTs. Other formats are nice, but it all needs         DC> to have a common root. Though I use Blue Wave, it is compatible         DC> with the PKT format.               So if an offline door was written with both the in and outbound being pkt       format your offline editor would have no problem with that?               DC> Ahem! My firsy cpu was a Tandy 1000sx.               Are you bragging or complaining?               DC> BTW, my first was an 8086.               I saw those in action in small offices and decided then and there not to       bother. It would have been virtually impossible networking with Unix and VMS       networks and the lack of a suitable compiler so at least I could fake it was       seriously lacking, nevermind that they were way too slow. My wife didn't seem       to mind them but I bet if you asked her now she wouldn't go back. She is       definetly a Windows user but didn't have any problem with the Linux box here       once I set up a proper home account for her. She managed to communicate       effectively with her current workplace's server. She also noted that once one       figured out configuration issues it was noticeably faster then her regular       home box which is much closer to the actual server.               DC> Actually, there were poblems with Y2K if you weren't prepared. The         DC> primary problems were with data bases and too short of a year field.               Not a big deal really unless you didn't undertand what to replace or how in       headers. I steered clear of thing like Borland's DB(whatever Roman version)       on my machines and kept good nnotes about any structures of important files,       if there even was a header on any files. My old DOS stuff would be readable       on any OS. Some were dated where that mattered and there was never a problem       getting the proper date evn before I was aware of y2k problems with dos.               DC> You can find anything you want on the web, true or not!               Not likely anything I REALLY want. I have seen approximations of what I       REALLY want but none of that was/is real.              Mind you that might be a good thing.              Life is good,       Maurice              --- Msged/LNX 6.1.2        * Origin: The Pointy Stick Society XV - Linux Point (1:261/38.9)    |
