   I don't remember anything like that recently.  I vaguely remember   
   something of the sort a few years ago... getting some extra help to deal   
   with closing old cases, bring them to trial....  There usually is some   
   sort of cooperation between the city police, the county sheriffs, the   
   town cops and the State Troopers, wherever appropriate... there is some   
   overlap of jurisdiction as you might see...  :)
