   Hey Nancy!

NB> Well... if all the BBS's are gone, then so is Fido,

That hasn't happened yet but it has happened here in this neck of the woods or
at least I haven't heard of one locally. I can say with some certainty that
even one user will often keep the faith of the sysop of any BBS and keep the
   door open to possibilties.

NB> So far, that isn't the case, thankfully... :)

I noticed that. Good for you! Keep that sysop on his/her/it's toes eh? It
is your job as a BBS user.

NB> Except for email, I have very little to do with the Internet itself.

Personally it is more ftp then anything. Without that I have very little
personal use for the internet although I do use email. However email by
itself wouldn't be enough to keep my attention for long.

NB> Telnet over the internet to get to the BBS's would also be
    NB> unnecessary
NB> were there no BBS's, of course.

Right. That is a toughie since most providers frown upon their users putting
up telnet and/or ftp sites which makes it rather difficult, if not impossible,
for most. Then there is the difficulty knowing exactly who your users are for
   sure.

    NB> I do on the I'net I also
    NB> am
NB> doing in DOS at this point...

That wouldn't be easy but doable I am sure. There are still some sites around
that can cater to diehards. Although DOS wouldn't be my choice, I still use
and prefer console based apps which the uninitiated mistake for DOS apps. Not
even close but I do see why people think they are.

NB> When that* dies, I suppose Linux might
    NB> be
NB> the way my Wizard will take us...

As well he should. Any Wizard not seeing the beauty in Linux isn't much of a
   Wizard in my books. ;-)

NB> assuming that I still care about
    NB> using
    NB> the I'net and such... :)

Exactly. I feel the same way on that particular issue.

   Life is good,
   Maurice
