On 10 Dec 05 11:44:58, Maurice Kinal got back to Danny Ceppa        -> Re: bragging rights               DC> (aside! I just opened my other BW pkt... I got EXACTLY 20         DC> Echo Updates and everyone of them was moderated by Bob!)                MK> I wish him all the luck with that idea. Without network support it        MK> can get very lonely, very fast. The major criticism I've heard from        MK> users was there were far too much redundancy in the echolist(s) and              That's partially because the user base has shrunk. IIRC, there were        over 3,000 Echoes in FIDO.                MK> the ones there are essentially dead. I happen to agree with that        MK> assessment. Without sysop support and participation in these echoes I        MK> don't see most of them going anywhere.               The one Echo I moderate that I'm worried about is SIMPSONS. It        used to be a viable Echo. But, the moderator left and it got        "rescued".               By the time I got to take over, it became a very pale shell of        what it once was.               A Moderator needs to be active in their Echo. And no, not as a        Moderator unless necessary. Popping in out of the blue because a        someone requested Moderator intervention doesn't cut it.               --- OMX/Blue Wave/DOS v2.30        * Origin: Soundly on the Fault Line (1:138/666.0)    |
