   Damon,

DAG> I would be ignoring that, as well. Seven performed wonderfully whenever
DAG>used it on machines with enough resources. The main things that I've heard
DAG>about versions since then that I haven't liked are how much data it sends b
DAG>on user activities. I know that you can avoid portions of that by refusing
DAG>certain patches and the like, but it's just evil software, if you ask me.
DAG>like XP a lot; it's a shame that it's not kept up any more.

It's like anything else. Stuff you think is excellent...whether it's an
operating system or even a food or beverage product...they get rid of...and
the stuff that sucks royally, they keep around. Go figure.

DAG> Ouch. I took my OSHA tests, I've seen some examples on film of horrifyin
   DAG>electrical encounters.

I get very nervous when severe weather threatens. What angers me is these
"storm chasers" who seem like nymphomaniacs, who are never satisfied. They
have to see more tornadoes, etc. Yet, there are far more people (myself
included) who do NOT want severe weather in any way, shape, form, or fashion.

For those who do NOT want severe weather, and they suffer property damage,
personal injury, or loss of family/loved ones...I will feel sorry for them.

However, for the chasers who WANT severe weather, and they suffer property
damage, personal injury, or loss of family/loved ones, I will NOT feel sorry
for them...instead replying with "You got what you asked for...got more than
you bargained for, and I hope you're happy now".

DAG> That's intense. Sounds like maybe a bit of PTSD from it, as well. I've
DAG>some from some previous traumas that I've been through in my life, as well.
DAG>don't know how well they're really worked over at this point, though. I ho
DAG>you've been able to make some good progress with the flash horror, if nothi
   DAG>else.

That reminds me of a church sign that said "The gods have seen you naked.
   Now, they have PTSD".

Yet, I know people who won't go to the doctor, hospital, etc. because they
don't want others seeing them naked. Like it's something they haven't seen
before??!! Hello??!! They've seen more breasts, genitalia, and buttocks than
we'll ever see in our lifetime...it's just another day at work for them.

DAG> That's incredible. You're a pretty lucky man, it appears.

Blessed would be the word. :)

DAG> Sorry to hear that. I've always thought that it's a great thing to know,
DAG>with the tenuous mortality that we have on this planet. I definitely respe
DAG>anybody who has ever taken the time to learn such a skill.

I don't envy the 9-1-1 operators...they have to deal with a wide variety of
   calls each day, such as:

   1) Complaints about a barking dog.
   2) Attempted suicide.
   3) "I just shot my spouse, you M.F.S.O.B. What the hell are you going to do
about it??" 4) A guy with a .357 magnum shooting at anything that moves. 5)
Complaining that the restaurant drive-thru screwed up their order. 6) They
   want a spouse.

Et cetera, ad infinitum, ad nausem. :P
