I'm        GP> starting to think something more than ADHD is wrong with him, too. He        GP> does lots of handflapping, twists all over the couch, etc. Hates being               NB> How old is he?              He's about to turn 5.               GP> touched, very sensitive about washing his hair. Sounds pretty        GP> familiar. So, earlier today he got pretty dirty playing outside.        GP> Whined the entire time I helped him finish his bath. Later, he was               NB> When my son was little he would scream any time I tried to wash his        NB> hair... I finally just talked his father into doing it... he was a        NB> little more restrained for him. He finally grew out of it, though.              Yeah, you're right about growing out of it. Just seems like he's a little       behind on some things.              He's finally starting to get better about the hair. I was able to get him       to trust me to lay him back in the water and not get water in his face. He       still bitches now and then. Now that we're starting to get past the bath       troubles, everything else is going to hell...lol... he's getting very hyper       and defiant on everything else, seems like. sigh...               GP> playing on my exercise machine. I'd told the kids many, many times not        GP> to play on it; not so much because I was scared of it being broken --        GP> it's a hand-me-down, but actually because I didn't want them to get        GP> hurt on it. But, they learn the hard way. Brie is big enough that I        GP> don't have to worry too much about her, but sure enough, Hayden did        GP> something as I stepped outside to roll up my car windows. I heard a        GP> big yelp as I was walking back in, and he was hopping around on one        GP> foot. Scraped a couple of toes somehow. Fifteen minutes later, he's        GP> still screaming... and this boy has some LUNGS.               NB> Some kids just do have to learn the hard way... Too bad you have to        NB> deal with the lungs, though... ;0              Yep.. Both my kids break all the rules every day. Then bitch at me when       they get punished for it. I had a little talk with my 7 year old a few       minutes ago; in about thirty seconds I named off 7 major rules right off       the top of my head that she breaks every day...and I'm like, come on now.       *Every* day. All day. Climbing on the back of the couch, climbing on the       dresser, playing around in the kitchen, grabbing junk food in the middle       of the night/early morning, letting the cats in, playing in the bathroom,       hitting/pushing/pinching/bullying her brother (more than is normal)...       This is every day, several times throughout the day.              The most exhausting part is that I have to repeat commands four or five       times...she's like "But, it's just..." I have to keep reminding her that       "just" doesn't make something right...lol. I'm still trying to remember       to use counting. Oftentimes, I'm just so dumbfounded, I'm like "Get off.       Get off! Get OFF! GET OFF!!!" :p                      --- MultiMail/Linux v0.49       --- SBBSecho 2.12-Win32        * Origin: SETX Chat and BBS - Vidor, TX (1:393/31)    |
