Clean and rinse beans in a large soup pot. Fill pot with water, add

temperature--checking often and adding water when needed. Cook until
beans are tender--at least 1 hour or more. Add 1 tb of red chili

     Soup:

In a skillet have about 2 tb bacon drippings. Mix in other
ingredients--saute until soft. Add 1/2 cup of liquid from the beans
and bring to a boil. Add this prepared salsa to the cooked beans and
simmer all for 30 more minutes. Serve with warm tortillas or Mexican
     corn bread.

     Frijoles Borrachos:

Make as above, but add one can of beer.
