         Title: Cherry Oat Bars

         2 c  A-P flour   
         2 c  Old fashioned oats   
         1 c  Chopped pecans   
       1/2 c  Toasted wheat germ   
       1/2 c  (packed) brown sugar   
         1 ts Salt   
         1 ts Baking soda   
         1 ts Ground cinnamon   
       1/2 ts Ground allspice   
         1 c  Butter; melted   
       1/2 c  Honey   
         2    Eggs; beaten   
         1 ts Vanilla extract   
        12 oz Jar cherry preserves   
       1/3 c  Dried cherries; chopped   
       1/2 c  Sweetened shredded coconut   
       
     In a large bowl, combine the first nine ingredients. In   
     another bowl, combine the butter, honey, eggs and   
     vanilla. Stir into oat mixture until combined. Set aside   
       1-1/3    cups for topping.   
        
     Press remaining oat mixture into a greased 13" X 9"   
     baking pan. Combine preserves and dried cherries; spread   
     over crust. Sprinkle with coconut and reserved oat   
     mixture; press down lightly.   
        
     Bake at 350oF/175oC for 25-30 minutes or until golden   
     brown. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars.
