         Yield: 4 Servings

       1/2 c Lentils
         1 c Water
         2 tb Onion; chopped
       1/2 c Carrot; grated
         1 Tomato; chopped
         2 tb Sesame seeds
       1/2 c Besan (chickpea flour)
         1 ts Garam masala
       1/2 c Cilantro; chopped
         1 c Oil
       1/2 ts Black pepper powder
              Salt; to taste
         4 tb Tomato sauce
         1 lg Cucumber; sliced

Cook lentils in a pressure cooker with water and tomato for 3 minutes
after bringing to maximum pressure. Remove from heat and allow to
     cool before uncovering. There should not be any water in the lentils;
if there is, drain and keep liquid for soups. Mash ingredients
well--consistency should be firm. Add onions, carrots, garam masala,
sesame seeds, salt, pepper, and cilantro. Lastly, add flour and mix
well to form 4 to 6 individual patties.

Heat oil in a skillet and saute the burgers on both sides until
golden brown. As an alternative, these patties can also be baked at
450?F for 30 minutes. Serve with slices of cucumber and some
     homemade tomato sauce.
